Buxtonion4life Group Objectives
Buxtonion4Life was founded in 2009 by a group of United States based Guyanese of Buxtonian origin with the common goal of revitalizing Buxton and its neighboring communities of Friendship, Vigilance and Annandale. During the period of July 31st through August 8th, 2010 ,the group hosted its first major event, Buxton reunion 2010 to coincide with the 170th anniversary of the purchase of the village of Buxton.
The members have considered it best to try to assist the youths and young adults in their quest to elevate themselves.
Prior to the formation of the Buuxtonion4Life group, four members had visited and donated what they could to some youths in Buxton; and promised to work assiduously with other Buxtonions to foster the behavioral changes the youths needed to be able to pursue self-development.
The discussions that were held as part of that preliminary exercise led to the idea that the initial thrust should be in the area of education, attempting to help provide lifelong academic and technical skills that are necessary to make persons employable as a basis for fulfilling their personal dreams. The funds generated by the first major event will be used to establish an on-going program along these lines.
